Jackie :)

Do you often feel that you’re sabotaging your best efforts to achieve your goals?  Maybe you say one thing but consistently do the opposite.  Or, when you’re finally about to realise your objectives, you open your mouth and put your foot right in it!

If we think of ourselves as one persona – a single identity – it doesn’t make sense that we don’t or won’t do what we set out to do.  But if we think of ourselves as a team, where the team members are working to different agendas, the reasons we don’t achieve what we want becomes easier to understand.

For many years I had problems in achieving my goals.  I gave them great thought, wrote them down, made them SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time related) and referred to them often.  My conscious mind was brilliant at goal setting but, somehow, I never seemed to get there.

Little did I know that there was another Jackie calling some, in fact most, of the shots: my subconscious mind.  The Jackie wasn’t a gremlin, naysayer or party pooper.  This Jackie knew a lot more than my conscious mind such as what my beliefs were and had a direct line to my higher self to understand my purpose for this life.  And she was working within those boundaries.

Not only was conscious Jackie disregarding subconscious Jackie but the two spoke completely different languages.  Considering these two were my Life Team it was hardly surprising that I wasn’t going where I thought I wanted to go!

So I began team building.  I ensured that both parties had input by connecting my subconscious, conscious and higher self daily through meditation and prayer.  This allowed my conscious mind to understand how my subconscious was trying to protect me and how my higher self was trying to guide me.  My conscious mind can also pick up redundant beliefs in my subconscious that are limiting and work on replacing them.  When I set goals now I do so in writing but also in pictures, symbols and with emotion as this is the
language of all our subconscious minds.

I am very proud of my Team Jackie.  We pull together to reach our objectives.  Of course, like all team building, it’s an ongoing process but it now feels less like self sabotage and more like being part of a protective team.  And that’s good.

How’s your most important team working?

For something that we all have and all use on a day to day basis, intuition seems to be steeped in mystery and mysticism.

There is a plethora of books, DVDs, workshops, courses, initiations and tools available that promise to develop our intuition and many people spend their time searching these for a seemingly ‘Holy Grail’ that will switch on their intuition.

After a while it all starts to get very complicated.

Intuition is simply connection to our higher self: by using the wisdom of our higher self we can live in integrity with our life’s purpose.

In order to develop your own intuition there are just a few points to remember:

  1. Intuition is personal so what works for one person doesn’t work for another.  Find your own way rather than copy other people.  This means that you don’t necessarily need to go to any outside source to develop your intuition.
  2. Intuition is a natural ability that we all have so we don’t need initiations from others to ‘switch on’ unless we believe we do.
  3. Intuition is as simple as asking a question and listening for the answer.
  4. We each have our own way of hearing the answers to our questions.  This may be through dreams or day dreams.  We may hear a voice or feel things in our body.  It’s
like our own special code and, once we know the key, it becomes easy to decipher the information we’re getting.
  5. Practise makes our intuition stronger.
  6. Trust in the answers we receive makes our intuition stronger.  If you disregard the information or don’t acknowledge it then you have to ask if you really want intuition to play a part in your life.
  7. A need to know makes our intuition stronger.  Use your intuition to fulfil your life’s purpose and help others achieve theirs and it will deliver for you.
  8. An ideal start is to spend a little time each day in meditation.  Even 5 minutes with your eyes closed and focusing on your breathing will slow your brainwaves down and connect you to your higher self.
  9. Your imagination is vital in developing your intuition.  If you don’t know the answer imagine what it is if you did.  What you mistake for imagination may very well be your intuition trying to communicate with you.
  10. Like our physical senses, intuition is a special gift and should be cherished.  It’s part of living our lives with integrity and using our intuition to manipulate others or to be nosy just doesn’t fit with integrity.

Intuition is simple if you let it be.

These powers are still latent within all of us and the Magickal tools in this Tool Kit are simply devices to enable you to find, direct and channel this Magickal energy which is within you.

Quantum physics shows us that, at a fundamental level, we are small pieces of matter separated by lots of space.  In fact, we are really just a bag of space interacting with other bags of space in a bigger bag of space that is our physical world.

This space is called energy: we are energetic beings living in an energetic world.

On one level, we think of energy as vitality: the ‘va va voom’ that drives us.  But energy is much more than that. We use energy to communicate with everyone and everything in
our lives.  So doesn’t it make sense to consider where we get our energy from in order to understand what is happening in our lives and why?

Physically we take energy from the food we eat and the water we drink. If the plants are healthy, the meat has come from healthy animals and the water quality is good then the quality of the energy we ingest is increased.

Our physical environment provides energy in the form of air and light and the quality of both can make a big difference to our lives.

These sources of energy are all pretty standard and accepted but there are so many more sources that provide both our inherent energy and additional energy that we can tap into when we need it.

Our inherent energy is determined by the time we enter this energetic world.  It’s as if we are time-stamped by the energetic pattern when we take our first breath.  Our date of birth can be analysed by a number of different astrological systems to show character traits, strengths and weaknesses.  Numerology can also deepen this analysis by reviewing the numerical energy of the whole birth date and specific parts of it.

And, as time moves, on the same systems can identify how your inherent energy will interact with the energetic world and other energetic beings at any time in the past, present or future by showing you the cycles of your particular life.

When we come into this world we are given a label that we come to identify as our own and that others perceive us as being.  Our name can give a lot of information regarding our life purpose, our abilities and challenges we may face in this lifetime.  Whether you believe that our name is chosen before we incarnate into this life to help us achieve our purpose or that we grow into the energy of our name as we start to use it, our name can be accurately assessed using numerology to provide insights into our psychological
make-up.

Another part of our inherent energy comes from our divine essence or our soul.  Few of us can consciously understand our soul’s full purpose but we are given the correct level of spirit to help us fulfil that purpose.

To a large extent we have very little conscious control over our inherent energy.  However, exterior sources of energy are very much in our control.  Eating good food and getting fresh air is a choice most of us can make but these are not the only sources of energy we have control over.

Our emotions can either boost or deplete our energy.  Our mental processes can have the same effect.  Doesn’t it make sense then to focus our thoughts and feelings on the good stuff in our lives?

Our five senses are also a great source of energy and a primary way in which we interact with our world.  Touching something sensual like satin or velvet, stroking a purring cat or holding the hand of someone we love immediately increases our energy.  Listening to uplifting music or looking at a beautiful vista will have the same effect as will the taste of our favourite fruit or the bouquet of our favourite flower.  We all have choices about how we use our senses so why not use them in fun and delight and boost the energy we receive?

Another energy source is people.  Anybody we interact with will exchange energy with us.  You’re probably aware of people who leave you feeling drained and others who just seem to give you a lift.  The latter inspire us: literally fill us with spirit or energy.  Seek these people out to improve your energy levels and become somebody who inspires others too.  By giving you’ll receive lots of energy back.

Take account of where you spend your time: your home, workplace, bed or office.  All of these places have their own energetic blueprint that will interact with yours.  The study of feng shui can help you connect and harmonise with the energy of the space you’re in.

I’m sure you can think of many more sources of energy.  The important thing to consider is that the quality of the energy you take in will affect the quality of the energy you experience and give out.  And, as energy is our way of communicating with and experiencing this world, doesn’t it make sense to aim for the highest quality you can?

The other day as I was meditating I had a spiritual visitor arrive desperate to give me a message.  This wasn’t a lost soul, entity or angel as such.  It was me when I was a child.  She made it very clear to me that my life was out of balance and I needed to have some fun.

On reflection I have to admit that life has become very serious, partly due to being busy and focusing on managing my time as best I can.  I’ve really been operating on
auto-pilot to get things done but, somewhere along the way I had stopped living in a full and satisfying way.  And I’m sure I’m not the only one.  For me,
little Jackie decided to step in and give me a kick and her method is so much more effective than somebody just telling me to go and have some fun.

When we’re born our hearts are open and the possibilities for our life are endless.  However, as time goes by these possibilities seem to get hidden, swamped or discarded.  Responsibilities weigh us down and, for many of us, living becomes something that needs to be done to get through each day.

As a young child I expected to be loved.  I expected to be considered as much as anybody else.  I was curious and wanted to do things that I liked and that were fun.

I was lucky, coming from a stable and what could be termed a ‘normal’ family.  But very young children before they have learnt about the world and the circumstances they’ve been born into , have similar expectations.

As an adult trying to make my way in the world these expectations have gradually eroded but, what I realise now is how much I miss them and how influential they are on the quality of my life and on other people’s perceptions of me.

Now it’s time to bring those expectations back.   When I’m in a situation where everything becomes too stressed or serious I ask my seven year old self how she would handle it.  Let me give you an example.  I had a very busy week where it seemed nearly impossible that I was going to do everything I had agreed to do.  The only option was to forgo so
sleep to get everything done and, as I become a bit of a grouch without sleep, I was stressing myself out.  Little Jackie reminded me that I really wanted to do everything and surely that was more important than sleep for a little while.  I was reminded how sleep didn’t figure during Christmas when I was a child!

What could your child self teach you?

The UK department store Debenhams has bucked current retail trend by announcing better than expected revenue and pre-tax  profits for the summer months and running into
their year end accounts in October.

Many are asking how they’ve managed it and many intellectual observations have been made.  However, if we look at the energy around the Debenhams brand and the organisation, we can throw a little more light on their current success.

The brand ‘Debenhams’ has a numerological energy of 3.  This energy is creative and, for want of a better word, bouncy.  It finds ways to achieve things.  Sometimes the energy can go off in all sorts of different directions which is not associated with the Debenhams we know.  But, if you look at the organisation’s incorporation date (or its birth date) it is ruled
by the 6 Heaven star in Feng Shui Astrology. (Incorporation date 28/1/1905).  This makes it trustworthy, reliable and calms that bouncy 3 energy down.

This year the 6 Heaven star is in an energetic house bringing wealth and creativity so it’s hardly surprising that Debenhams continues to be not just a part of UK retail, but a successful player.

They plan to move their headquarters and overhaul their flagship Oxford Street branch in 2013.  The overhaul is well starred as they’ll be in their own house for that year and
very stable.  My only tip would be to have an energetic survey done on their new headquarters.  They’ve done so well so far it would be a shame to ignore a little Feng Shui to keep their fortunes sweet.

Of course, it’s easy to apply numerology and Feng Shui astrology in retrospect.  Both are much more effective when applied in the early stages of a business or at crucial
points in an organisation’s life cycle and growth phases.  Date Selection and Branding can be given a ‘once over’ in terms of Feng Shui and numerology to ensure that the best possible energies are being utilised to ensure success.  Many successful businesses and business people use these energetic tools to give them an edge in an increasingly competitive world.

I was speaking to a client recently who was having a hard time in her life: her job wasn’t working out the way she had hoped and, being a
single woman, she longed for a loving relationship.

She had applied Feng Shui to her home but didn’t give any of her actions a chance to work, applying more and more cures she had read
about.  She just didn’t know when to stop.

She’d ended up in a confusing environment with a confusing life.  My advice to her was to just stop.  Stop doing and just be for a while.

We live in a world where everything has to happen instantly, where we collect lots of stuff and where we have to keep on doing things.  We fill our lives up with clutter and we fill our minds up with clutter.

It’s often thought that Feng Shui is just about your environment and, on one level, it is.  However, Feng Shui is based on a philosophy known as The Tao or The Way and a deeper level of Feng Shui advocates living our lives according to The Tao in order to bring happiness and fulfilment.

One aspect of this philosophy is simplicity.

Clearing clutter in your home or business is one way to bring simplicity into your life and allow energy to flow again.  Simplicity in your thoughts will have the same effect:

  • Less ‘stuff’ in expended on the ‘what if’ thoughts
  • More space for clear thinking
  • Less scattered energy in having to do this, that and anything or everything
  • More focus on what you really want
  • Less frustration that you haven’t got what you perceive other people to have
  • More contentment and satisfaction with the things that are good in your life.

How do you Feng Shui your mind?  The same way you Feng Shui your environment:

  1. By noticing what is going on at the moment
  2. By knowing what you want or what you want to improve
  3. By noticing how your mind and thoughts need to change
  4. By taking one small step at a time and giving the action chance to work
  5. By being for a while instead of doing.

Sticks & stones may break my bones

But names can never hurt me

But is that really true?

A name is more than a selection of letters put together to give something or someone a label.  A name is an energetic force which grows stronger the more it’s used.  And this force affects all aspects of our lives.  Just think how scared people are of the word ‘cancer’.  Or how we long to hear those three little words ‘I love you’.

The associations with these words, and many others, are significant but, on an even more fundamental level the energy of the words and the energy of each letter in the word can have a profound subliminal effect on us.

The study of this effect is called Numerology.  Perhaps an unusual word in itself as we’re talking about letters but numerology works on the basis that the fundamental language of our world is mathematics which underlies nature, the solar system, music and the spoken word.  As such each letter of our alphabet relates to an archetypal number and a particular type of energy.

Numerology also considers dates so combine your date of birth with your name and you can get a very accurate picture of you: your skills, talents, character, strengths, weaknesses, life purpose and even karmic debt that you may be here to repay in this lifetime.

So what happens if you change your name?  For example, if you get married and adopt your husband’s surname or double barrel both surnames.  Or perhaps you’re called by a nick name in certain situations.

Well, name changes can add nuances and differences to your character.  However, if the differences are large it will take time to assimilate the new energy into your overall energetic blueprint.  When you do you may discover new aspects of you or, if the difference from your original energy is very diverse you may feel as if there’s a fight or conflict going on inside you.  It may even manifest physically with a schizophrenic condition.

Of course, some people change their name because they want to harness a different energy.  Many actors take stage names and method actors will live the character they are
playing, including adopting the character’s name, to take on the energy and produce an Oscar winning performance.

Others try to cheat the system and change their name in order to change their lives.  Sometimes this works – if they used a skilled numerologist to ensure they get the change
right.  But, underneath it all, their original, intended-by-the-universe, essence will still be there.  The key to getting the right energy in the first place is to use the services of a numerologist when deciding on a name for your unborn child.

Numerology can also be applied to businesses.  A business incorporation date is deemed its birthday and the name can be assessed or chosen numerologically to bring the
right type of energy to that business.

Combine this with Feng Shui to get the business branding right and any venture can maximise its chance of success.

We live in a world where everything is labelled – even us.  A name tag is certainly better than a number.  And, without a doubt, our name can alter people’s perception of us, our own perception of us and the mark we leave on the world.

Your name says a whole lot about you and what you decide to call others may have a big effect on them.

Sticks and stones may break my bones and names can really hurt

What does yours say about you?

I wrote in a previous blog about the effects the stars and heavens can have on our wellbeing (see ‘Although we’re laying in the gutter…’).

One aspect of viewing ourselves in context with the stars is the realisation of just how very small we are in the whole scheme of things: it’s a humbling experience that removes our ego and enables us to communicate with our divine essence.

Take a look at some of these pictures from entries for the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2011 run by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich and The Sky At Night magazine.

Aren’t we luck to live in such a beautiful universe, to be part of something so much bigger than ourselves that our ego is transcended and we can see the beauty in our universe and, as we are an integral part of it, in ourselves?
